There is no bolt of fabric in a lightning strike, 

Unfurling from nautilus spirals into a tapestry.


Lightning torches the giraffe’s acacia tree,

And forces it to wander off

to somewhere else.


If iron sharpens iron,

Like you say it does,

Then one of us must be made 

Of sterner stuff.


After you,

I'm still a little burnt out, 

A little hungry,

And still bleeding.
